Amy graduated with a BA from Truman State University in English and Spanish. She was the English Language Learner Coordinator for Webster City School District and also co-taught Spanish at the high school. Amy worked and taught in Prague, Czech Republic while she earned an international TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate. She also taught English at Lambton College in China for a year. She was the head cheerleading coach for Webster City, served as volunteer assistant track coach, and helped with speech and drama. She has served as a translator for a Habitat for Humanity build in El Salvador and organized a 4 month mission trip to Kenya.
