Matt Zanger, MA
Violence Prevention Educator:

Matt earned his BS in Architecture and his Masters in Health Education at the University of Maryland.  He has lived in Dubuque with his wife, Kate and their three children since 1996.  Before joining the Riverview staff as a violence prevention educator in 2008, Matt spent 15 years as a full time parent and 12 years working in university residence halls.  He is active in a variety of community activities and organizations, including the Dubuque Morning Optimists, where he served as president for two years, and END-IT (Endorsing Non-violence Daily, In Totality), a community task force formed two years ago with the goal of eliminating violence in the tri-state community.  Matt has been a youth coach for soccer, baseball, basketball, acting and speech, and has presented hundreds of workshops and presentations to groups of all ages.  He participates in community theater and can be seen in several local commercials.  Matt is a Certified Sexual Abuse Counselor in Iowa, has completed the 40 hour training in Illinois and is a mandatory reporter of child abuse.  Matt has also completed specific training courses in communication and leadership skills, the effects of pornography and the issues related to poverty.  He continues to research the issues of hazing and sibling abuse.  Matt is an avid fan of the Maryland Terrapins, is nearly unbeatable at Scrabble and enjoys baking.
