Riverview Pledge of Non Violence

I pledge to make the tri-state area a safe and supportive community for all women, children, and men through my commitment to nonviolence:

Respect Yourself and Others
I respect myself and others by not engaging in hurtful criticism, hateful speech, physical attacks, and other self-destructive behavior

Communicate Openly and Honestly
I share my feelings to identify safe ways to express my anger, and to solve problems peacefully

Listen Actively
I listen carefully to others, especially those who disagree with me, and consider others’ feelings and needs rather than insisting I have my own way

Forgive
I apologize and make amends when I have hurt another, forgive others, and refrain from holding grudges

Be Courageous
I peacefully challenge violence in all its forms whenever I encounter it, and stand with others who are treated unfairly
